Alice Wooster

Alice Marie Wooster, age 90, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, following a brief illness.  Born February, 24, 1925, in Seoul, Korea, she was the daughter of Bliss and Helen Billings.

After graduating college in California, Alice married Hawley Arthur “Art” Wooster on May 16, 1956 at Fort Baker in Sausalito, California.  Alice and Art adopted their only son, Bob, while stationed in Furth, Germany in 1957.  During Art’s 25 years of active military service, they spent time living in Texas, Chicago, New Jersey, and Germany.  While Art served in Viet Nam, Alice and Bob stayed with family in Michigan and Hawaii.  Bob and Art were the loves of her life!

Alice worked as an Occupational Therapist for more than 25 years, serving as the Director of Handicapped Services for Red Rocks Community College in Denver, Colorado for the largest part of her career.

Alice was an active member of the VFW wives club in Crawford, Colorado during her and Art’s retirement years.  She was also an active church member throughout her life.  Most recently, the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Additionally, she volunteered with a variety of charitable organizations.

Alice enjoyed reading, poetry, photography, playing cribbage, the symphony, attending theatre, traveling, camping, and hiking.  She was a friendly, outgoing individual who valued the Lord, her family, friends, and those in need.

Alice is survived by her only son, Bob Wooster, and her daughter-in-law, Laney Wooster, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church at 3940 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado.
