Andrew Meyer

Andrew Jacob Meyer, age 34, died October 8th, 2017, after a life-long struggle with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). He was born March 1st, 1983, son of Gary (Sherry) Meyer of Springfield, IL and Vicki Meyer of Glenwood Springs, CO.

Andy was preceded in death by his brother Zachary and grandfather Donald Meyer. He is survived by his parents and brothers Joseph (Angie) Meyer of Virginia, IL and Joshua (Stacy) Meyer of Basalt, CO and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by maternal grandparents Merle and Kate Lovekamp of Arenzville, IL and paternal grandmother Roberta Meyer of Jacksonville, IL.

Andy was a proud graduate of Beardstown High School, class of 2001 and proceeded to attend Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. For several years thereafter he worked on the family farm in Illinois where he developed an uncanny knack for learning how to do or fix anything. Later he used those skills to become crew foreman at a leading solar energy company in Colorado. He loved being in the outdoors hunting, camping, fishing, skiing, hiking and most of all hanging out with friends and family. Andy had an infectious smile, was everyone’s friend and lived his life to the fullest. He was a passionate, talented, dedicated and hard-working man who will be sorely missed.

An open house celebration of Andy’s life will be held for family and friends at The Elks Lodge, 205 East 2nd Street in Beardstown, IL, October 29, 2017, from 1-4 pm.
