Bennie Belle Pace Christie, 78, of Grand Junction, Colorado returned to her heavenly home on July 28th, 2015.
Bennie Belle was born to Ben & Mary Pace on October 19th, 1936, in Socorro, New Mexico. She was raised in Montrose, Colorado, and graduated from Montrose High School. On July 24th, 1955, she married Howard Christie of Montrose. Bennie, Howard, and their two children moved to Collbran, Colorado, where Bennie Belle worked for many years at the Collbran Job Corps Center until her retirement in 2003. She also worked at Plateau Valley School and Plateau Valley Nursing Home. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family. She loved being outdoors, and spent many hours riding horses, moving cattle, and helping on the ranch.
Bennie Belle is survived by husband, Howard, and children, Nate Christie and Shannon (Dan) Currier, as well as four grandchildren, Remy Currier, Brevin Currier, Annie Hinkson, and Katie Hinkson, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Art (Bonnie) Pace, Otho (Lisa) Pace, and Otto (Janie) Pace. She was preceded in passing by parents, Ben and Mary; sister, Mary Jane Carter; brothers Donald, David, Joel, and Charles; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Christie.
A celebration of Bennie Belle ’ s life will be held on August 8th, at 2:00 PM, at Collbran Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in her name to Hope West, 3090 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81506.
