Charles Vernon Bridgman, age 90, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away at his residence, Sunday, October 4, 2015. Born February 4, 1925 in San Diego, CA, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Fern Smith Cooke. Following high school, Vernon served as Corporal in the United States Marines during World War II.
A man of many interests, he was an avid bow hunter, target shooter and bass fisherman. He would take off for five weeks in the spring and drive to Oregon to fish wih his best friend, Clyde Freed. Dad had many friends in San Deigo where he sang in the choir of his church. He also made many friends here in Grand Junction who will miss him.
Prior to his retirement, Dad had been employed as an electrical supervisor with a city utility company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Annette Rose Bridgman.
Dad's oldest son, Terry and his wife, Jean, live in Grand Junction. They have no children. His youngest son, David and his wife, Kathy, live in Scottsdale, AZ. They have two married children and one grandson.
Services with Military Honors will be held later at Greewood Memorial Park in San Diego, CA where Charles will be laid to rest next to his wife.
