Dean Maurice Keas passed away at his home in Grand Junction, Colorado on January 18, 2018. He was 80 years old.
Born January 25, 1937 in Glenwood Springs to Art and Leah Keas, he was the oldest of two boys. He was a star athlete and exceled in school. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Donna Barnes. March would have been their 59th wedding anniversary.
He enlisted in the Army in 1959 and served for 6 years as a radiology technician. After the military he had a career in NASA where he helped build some of the original coronagraph cameras deployed in Skylab to capture photographs of the Sun. He later held truck driving positions where he hauled uranium and natural gas. He finished his career in the field of radiology at Community Hospital. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, hosting parties, playing pinnacle, watching Fox News and football games. His passion in life was his family and being surrounded by people he loved.
Dean was proceeded in death by his stepbrother Kenny Ash of Grand Junction. He is survived by his wife, Donna Keas of Grand Junction; his brother Dennis Keas of Escandido, California; his stepbrother Jim Ash of Fruita, Colorado; his daughter Kelly & Don McKay of Grand Junction, his two granddaughters Brenda McKay and Kelsey & John Stanley, both of Grand Junction; his only great grandchild, Bryer Stanley; and his Scottish Terrier, Dolly.
Services will be held on Monday, February 12th at 1:00pm at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado; 2830 Riverside Parkway in Grand Junction.
