Debra Prochnow

September 20, 1957 — April 3, 2017

Debra Dawn Prochnow Sept. 20, 1957 – April 3, 2017 Debra was gathered up to her people, with her loving family by her side on April 3rd, 2017 after the Lord held her hand and led her through a courageous battle with Lung cancer. Debra Dawn Elser Prochnow was born in Los Angeles, Ca to the marriage of Rudolph Roy Elser Jr. and Delois Rose (Martin) Elser on Sept. 20, 1957. She was the youngest of four children. Deb was raised in Long Beach, Ca and in 1972 her family moved to San Marcos, Ca. where she graduated high school. While in San Marcos, she met the love of her life in Steven Prochnow. They were wed on Feb. 18, 1978 and remained sweethearts until her passing. From this joyous union came three amazing children, Wendy Diane (Prochnow) Hergenreder, Tracey Dawn (Prochnow) Schleich and their only son, Jared Steven Prochnow. Deb welcomed four grandchildren, Andon and Zaylee Schleich, Ethan and Ty Prochnow. Debbie had several jobs; one of her favorites was working for the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Many of her jobs though, kept her working with either animals or children. She was a vet tech for years however she was especially fond of her work with challenged kids. She gave up all other jobs to have the most fulfilling job of her life, being daycare for her grandkids. She delighted in watching them grow and learn every day. Deb loved camping and fishing, especially with her family. She was an avid reader, loving mysteries and trying to figure out who dun it. She enjoyed nature and gardening. Deb is survived by her father and mother, husband, all three of her children, four grandchildren, her brother Roger (Denise) Elser, Gregory Elser, Randy Elser and many nieces and nephews.
