Evelyn B. Hall, 99, passed away Friday morning, June 30, 2017, at HopeWest Hospice surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born to Nicholas and Frances (Turk) Breyer at the family home south of Rocker, Montana on March 18, 1918.
A true member of the “Greatest Generation”, after the death of her father, when Evelyn was 18 years old, she went to work for Hanson Meat Packing Company. She was educated at Rocker Grade School and Butte High School graduating in 1936.
Evelyn married Ivan W. Hall on May 2, 1946 at Butte, MT. They lived in Butte, MT, Lyons, Leadville, Salida, Paradox and Gateway, Colorado. She moved to Grand Junction in October 1953 and worked 30 years for St. Mary's Hospital, 5 as a Nurses Aid and 25 as a LPN after graduating from Mesa Junior College Nursing Program in 1966. She retired in 1993 at the age of 75. During her retirement years she enjoyed traveling to visit her family and giving a helping hand to her family, friends and neighbors. Evelyn spent many years volunteering at senior centers and a retirement home in Grand Junction and Clifton taking blood pressures of the residents. She enjoyed embroidering tea towels and quilt blocks, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church women's circle and Bible studies.
She is survived by her children, Ted (Sheryl) Hall, Pierre, SD, Tad Lewis (John, deceased), Bellingham, WA, Geary (Carolyn) Hall, Grand Junction, CO, Tim (Janet) Hall, Arvada, CO. Her grandchildren are Joshua Hall, Denver, CO, Jonathan Hall, Westminster, CO, Michael Lewis, Issaquah, WA, Gary Lewis, Bellingham, WA, Matthew Hall, Neenah, WI, Jenna Hall, Siloam Springs, AR, Kevin Hall, Omaha, NE, and Stephanie Hall, Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by eleven great-grand children, a sister, Violet Garbarino, Spokane, WA and one sister-in-law, Ellyn Breyer, Butte, MT.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Ivan, daughter Frances, her parents and siblings, Albert, Montana, Ed and Nick Breyer, Beverly Williams, Nellie Littlefield and Margaret Rooney-Murray.
Cremation has occurred and a memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. July 6, 2017. Memorials are suggested to be given to HopeWest Hospice or the First Methodist Church.
