Howard Phillip Horton, 69, born on November 9th , 1946 to Luther "Buster" Horton & Phyllis Horn Horton in Silverton Colorado, passed away on May 3, 2016 at his home with his wife and family by his side.
Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 and was honorably discharged.
He returned to Montrose, Colorado and met and married his friend and wife of 44 years Bobbye (Gauthreaux) Horton in 1973.
After moving to Grand Junction in 1978, he began his career with the US Postal service.
He is survived by his Daughter Charlotte Balerio (Lawrence Balerio) of Grand Junction, Son Howard “Chito” Horton (Megan Quirk) of Bailey, Colorado. He has 6 grandchildren, Zane Balerio, Mya Balerio, Lawrence Balerio Jr, Lauren Balerio, Elia & Lila Quirk-Horton and one great grandson Alex Martinez. Howard loved and respected the outdoors where he spent much of his life hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.
Services were provided by Browns Funeral Home.
A Military Interment will be held on May 20th at 3 pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on 2830 Parkway Road and dinner to follow at the Eagles Lodge at 1674 US Hwy 50.
