James "Jim" Fielitz
April 8, 1956 - March 12, 2018
Father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Jim was many things to many people. He was an expert hunter with the best secret spots and an avid fisherman with the best lures (and the biggest fish). Jim was a helping hand with a swinging hammer. He was kind-hearted and thoughtful, with engaging green eyes.
Jim moved with his family in 1972 from Illinois to Grand Junction where he graduated from Fruita High School. He then completed an associate's degree in Geology at Mesa State College. From there he joined the Carpenters Union where he worked with his father for many years. He then went into business for himself as a Master Carpenter and built many beautiful homes.
His memory lives on through his parents George and Audrey Fielitz; his two children Jake (Greta) and Andi Fielitz; his three grandchildren, Grace, Sawyer, and Wyatt Fielitz; his sisters Nanci Fischer and Mary Downing and his nephews Ian (Breanna) Fischer, Justin, Tyler and Garrett (Candy) Downing; his great newphew Ryan Downing and Great Niece Mila Downing.
If you wish to honor Jim, Memorial contributions can be made to Roice-Hurst Animal Shelter or HopeWest in his name.
