Jody Whittaker (Miss Jody)
September 22, 1957 – February 14, 2018
Jody Lynn Whittaker (Miss Jody), 60, of Fruita, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2018. She was born on September 22, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan. She was the beloved daughter of Bruce Wixom.
Jody was the Deli Chef at the Fruita City Market for 23 years. She enjoyed baking, canning, and you could always count on her amazing tamales at Christmas.
“Grammy” was the role she loved the most. Her greatest joy however was spending time with her family and friends, anything from pool parties to sleepovers with the grandkids and backyard barbecues. Other passions of hers include gardening, spending time with all her grandkids, 4 wheeling, scary movies and dressing up for the holidays.
Jody will be loved, remembered and missed by many. She helped in any way she could and was a staple around Fruita. She was also known to several as an O.G. Miss Jody was very strong and independent, and was considered “mom” to many. She was a loving and caring person to all.
She is survived by her children Jesse (Chris) Cembalisty, Steven Barnard, Sarah (Shea) Doremus, Ronda (Thomas) Williams and Dawna (Cory) Russell. Her grandchildren Stephen, DeAnna, Cory, Macie, Spencer and Ryker (Monster).
A celebration of life will be held on April 7th between 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The location will be posted later on her Facebook memorial page: Http://www.facebook.com/jody.whittaker1 will also be posted at Https://m.facebook.com/groups/262480674288431?ref=bookmarks
