John Robert Ballard - Veteran
John Robert Ballard went home to the Lord on December 8th, 2021. He died from Covid Pneumonia. He was 69 years old.
John was born on May 12, 1952, to Arbie Adam Ballard and Edna Mae Tunis in Montrose, Colorado. He spent his childhood and most of his adult life in Olathe, Colorado. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1971. He then graduated from Mesa College with an associate degree in police science in 1980.
He graduated from St. Phillips college in San Antonio, Texas as an LPN in 1991. John joined the United States Army in 1971 for 4 years. Later he joined the army national guard and retired in 2000 giving 21 years of service to his country. His real love was being a police officer. One year in the military as an MP, two years for the Olathe Police Department, 8 years for the Delta Police Department, and 22 years for the Montrose Sheriff’s Department Retiring with the rank of Sargent. Total of 33 years of service to his community.
John married the love of his life Pamela Kay Pfister on May 8, 1976. They had two sons, John Travis, and Aaron Brandon.
John loved working around the property and working on several different projects. Woodworking, gardening, small engine repair, and reading and spreading the word of God were all of his passions in life.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years Pamela Ballard from Hotchkiss, sons Travis (Jeannie) Ballard and Aaron Ballard from Hotchkiss, three brothers Manual (Kathy) Ballard, Issac (June) Ballard, and Paul (Melody) Ballard, three sisters Eva Mae (Duane) McMurray, Sarah (Bill) Washington, and Esther (Lonnie) Cain, four grandchildren Nessa Mata, Trinton (Ariel) Ballard, Trevor Ballard (Amie Smith) and Carter Ballard, and five great grandchildren.
John was proceeded in death by his parents, two half-brothers, three half-sisters, two brothers, and two sisters.
A Celebration of life is being held on May 28, 2022, 10:00 a.m.
