John Oxenford

John Thomas Oxenford, age 67, passed away in his home surrounded by people who loved him on March 17, 2018.

John/Tom was born on August 4, 1950 in Boone, Iowa. He was born to John and Barbara (Burtch) Oxenford.

He married his wife, Anna (Carranco) Oxenford, May 21st, 1978. 2018 marked 40 wonderful years together.

John committed over 28 years of service to the Department of Human Services at the Grand Junction Regional Center where he was the warehouse supervisor. He retired from the Regional Center in the year 2000.

He spent his life loving the Lord, his Family and his Friends. He enjoyed helping those in need and was a master at turning a stranger into a friend.

He was a mountain amongst men. He was a strong believer in the Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a spiritual leader, mentor and companion for many. He was a role model when it came to loving others unconditionally and following God’s commandment to love first.

John/Tom had his first child in 1970 and his last child in 1988. He had 10 children total. John/Tom received and expressed much joy with his 21 grandchildren.

He had a passion and gift for storytelling. He loved to joke around and loved to lighten the mood by playing the guitar and harmonica.

John/Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Oxenford, and his daughter Barbara Ann Oxenford.

Left to honor his memory are his sister, Debbie (Rick) Gurley, his brother and best friend, Robert Oxenford, his wife, Anna Oxenford, his children, Jason (Mandy) Oxenford, Robert Melofsky, Jeremy (Robin) Oxenford, Josh (Crystal) Oxenford, John (Lavender) Oxenford, Chris Oxenford, Felicia (Robert) Walz, James (Monique) Oxenford, and August (Evan) Oxenford. He had many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will gather in his memory on Friday, March 23rd at 10:00 AM at 904 N 7th St. Grand Junction, CO 81501
