John Randolph Smith (J.R.) February 27, 1948 - June 22, 2017 John Randolph Smith (J.R./Johnny), 69, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, CO on June 22, 2017, he was 69 years old. John was born in Laurel, MS, the third child of John H. and Sarah P. Smith. He grew up in southern California and resided in various locations in northern California until 1985 when he permanently relocated to Grand Junction, CO. John pursued a variety of interests, but his passion was art. He was actively creative as a painter, sculptor, lythogropher, poet and writer. His talent was boundless. John’s other passion was helping others in times of need, and he developed many close friendships through his efforts to better the lives of others, and he leaves behind many friends and devoted neighbors. He is survived by a family which he loved above all, his son Jason Smith (Nikole), daughter Sarah Smith Baine (Brandon), Brother Jerry Smith (Toni), and Sister Linda Whitney (JIm). He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Owen Bain, Gavin Smith, Aiden Bain, and Reese Smith. Visitation with the family will take place at 11:00am July 13th at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service with a memorial service beginning at 12pm.
