Befitting her sunny disposition and incessantly warm smile, Louise (Lois) Eugenia (Eckert) Kronus, age 95, passed away peacefully at Bee Hive Homes on a sunny October 8, 2017. Honoring the words of Mother Teresa, “Give the world the best that you have”, she most certainly did. She was always smiling, always positive.
Lois was born December 9, 1921 in Spokane, WA to Myrtle Iva (Crosby) and Clyde Vernon Eckert. She attended primary grades in Orchard Prairie and her high school years in the Seattle area. After graduation from Foster High School, she served her country as an aircraft mechanic at Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle during WW II. She later moved to Santa Monica, CA where she worked at Douglas Aircraft.
It was on Santa Monica Beach where she met her handsome sailor and husband of 41 years, Andrew (Andy) John Kronus of Bridgeport, CT. Andy later joined the USAF and after 20 years of service and travel, the couple retired in Poway, CA.
Lois was known by hundreds of school children who loved her over her twenty years of bus driving for the Poway Unified School District. In 2005, she relocated to Grand Junction CO to be closer to family.
The couple had four children: Beverly Jean (Kronus) Spevere (Gary) of Grand Junction, CO, Kathy Lynn Kronus of Poway, CA, James Andrew Kronus (Angelica) of Peoria, AZ and Patricia Louise (Kronus) Kessler (Earl) of Reno, NV. Louise was enormously proud of her children, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, were her two brothers, Wayne and Robert Eckert of Seattle, WA, husband Andrew, September 21, 1984 and daughter, Kathy, March 2, 2011.
She is survived by her many adoring friends and family, including her 85 year old brother, Burton Wayne Eckert (Mellie) of Escondido, CA
Inurnment and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date at the Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway, CA
