December 10, 1930 – March 25, 2018

Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Palisade, Colorado on March 25, 2018 following a long

illness, surrounded by family. He was 87. Mike was born December 10, 1930 in Silt, Colorado to his

Native American Father and Mother, Otto Eugene Arnold and Mary Ramona Cruz Arnold. He was

preceded in death by his three brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife Elinor/Ellie (Clarke)

of 64 years. His two daughters; Sandy (Rex) Harman and Kathy (Andy) Valdez: four grandchildren;

Jenny (Scot) McConnaughay, Jeremy (Christina Madrid) Harman, AJ (Amy Wilkinson) Valdez, Jake

Valdez: seven great grandchildren; Aspen, Mila, Ethan, Cope, Tanner, Ava and MiaBella.

Mike was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 2 nd Indian Head Division, Engineer Combat

Battalion during the Korean conflict. One major conflict he was involved in was the epic battle at

Heartbreak Ridge. His division received a letter congratulating them on a difficult and dangerous job

well done. After retirement he became a member of the Palisade American Legion.

Mike graduated from the Utah Technical Trade school as a Journeyman Carpenter in Salt Lake City,

Utah. Using his education and experience he became a General Foreman and Superintendent in the

construction industry for 40 plus years. In 1985 he became a born again Christian changing his life

forever. He served as a Pastor for the Church of God of Prophecy for 26 years in Rifle, Colorado.

Mike was an extremely hard worker dedicated to his family, always helping anyone in need. He was a

jokester who liked to make people laugh. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping as well as working

with livestock. His greatest joy was bringing his family together for a three day Family Pow-Wow in

the mountains.

Mikes viewing will be at Browns 7th St. Chapel, 904 North 7 th St Grand Junction, Colorado on Thursday April 5,

2018 at 11am.

His burial will immediately follow at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2830 Riverside Parkway at

12:45pm.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Jubilee Family Church of God 483 30 Rd on Saturday April

7, 2018 at 1pm
