Richard Clair

December 30, 1967 — June 8, 2015

Richard Robert (Rob) Clair

12/30/1967 – 06/08/2015

Richard Robert Clair went home to be with Jesus on June 08, 2015 after a violent and brief struggle with Cancer.  He leaned heavily upon his Lord and found comfort in the verse Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you sait h the Lord; plans to prosper and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a future.” He was 47.

Richard was born to Rich and Darlene (Bradley) Clair on December 30, 1967 in Alamosa, Colorado.  Richard grew up in Leadville, CO and always loved doing things outdoors, participating in Church activities, as well as Boy Scouts.

Richard faithfully served our country with the U.S. Navy for 20 years as a Storekeeper/Damage Control Officer.  This included Desert Storm and numerous Persian Gulf deployments from 1987 – 2007; Richard served on a number of ships including  the USS Weddell, USS Ranger,  USS Antietam,  USS Chung Hoon and the USS Abraham Lincoln.  He also served tours with SIMA in San Diego and the Rocky Mountain Recruiting District in Denver, CO.  Richard received various medals commendations, and ribbons throughout his career in the Navy as well.

Richard had three daughters who he loved and cherished; they were the absolute joy of his life and he was committed to taking care of them.  He had a special dedication and admiration for his youngest daughter with Down syndrome.  In addition to his children and spending time with family, Richard loved going camping, fishing, hunting and traveling.  He appreciated learning the history and tourist information about so many places and shared that with others.  His inquisitive mind and excitement for learning was present throughout his entire life.

Richard is survived by his three daughters; Rachael (Christopher Johnson) Lynne Clair and Sarah (Adam) Louise LaComb of Memphis, TN, and Erin Bethany Clair of Poway, CA.  His parents Rich and Darlene of Montrose, CO, his sister Angela (Robert) Morgan of Grand Junction, CO, and his grandchildren Christal Louann Johnson and Isabella Lind LaComb.

Richard is preceded in death by his grandparents William and Lucye (Tryon) Clair and Howard  and Billie June (Woolley) Bradley, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cremation will take place at Brown’s Cremation Services in Grand Junction, CO.  Richard’s cremated remains will be scattered at Sea by the U.S. Navy where the bright orange sunrises and sunsets were something he always treasured.

A small family memorial service was held 6/8/15.  In honor of Richard, donations may be sent to the Down Syndrome Association, Wounded Warrior or Hope West.
