Robert J. Pauley, age 72, died October 14, 2017.
Born February 24, 1945, he was the son of the late “Buck” and Marita Pauley of Dubuque, Iowa. Bob graduated from high school in Dubuque in 1963, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, returning home in 1967 and settled in Denver, Colorado where he attended Regis University and earned an Associates Degree in Business.
He enjoyed many sports, as both a participant and a fan, including football, basketball, track and field and wrestling in high school. Bob was an avid Bronco’s fan but also enjoyed the occasional Rockies and Avalanche game and was a regular attender of local CMU basketball. Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors golfing, fishing and hunting.
Bob’s career as a sales person was primarily centered in appliances, electronics and furniture, where he applied his strong work ethic, honesty and company loyalty, and led him from working in Denver to settling in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Bob was a member and served as Quartermaster at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1247 and as a Deacon at the New Life Church. Bob was loving, compassionate and loyal, always the first to offer help to others in need.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Nyla (Stassen) Robinson. He is survived by spouse, Mary Pauley, of Grand Junction, son Jason Pauley, of Denver, a daughter and son in law, Julie (Pauley) and Robert Brost of Yakima, WA, a stepson and daughter in law, David and Katie Stassen, brothers and sisters in law David and Pam Pauley of Denver and John and Mary Pauley of Fredericks, MD as well as sisters Janet Kroger of Dubuque, IA and Judy Pins of Gurnee, IL, seven grandchildren, Hunter and Natalie Brost, Noah and Morgan Pauley, Doug and Scott Stassen, Jasmine Robinson, and one great grandchild, Grayson Stassen.
Memorial services will be held in Grand Junction on Monday, October 23, 2017, beginning with military honors at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway at 3:00 p.m. and followed by a memorial service and fellowship at New Lift Church at 1350 N 7th Street at 4:00 p.m. Kind words and photos in Bob’s memory may be posted at www.brownscremationservice.com and please consider making a memorial contribution to Hope West in Grand Junction.
