Samuel Hudson, 82, died peacefully May 19, 2017, doing what he loved to do and what he did best.
Sammy was born July 30, 1934, in Evanston, Illinois, to Willie and Lillian Hudson. Sammy made his living as a shoe shine man, something he did for over 70 years. He moved to Grand Junction over 30 years ago where he met his wife, Rita, and married her in 1990. In 1992 they had a daughter, Jade. Sammy was full of life, and always had a smile on his face with a story to tell. He lived an entertaining life meeting many people along the way and leaving an impression. Whether it be a janitor or a celebrity, he treated everyone with the same respect. Sammy died shinin' and smilin' and that's how he will be remembered.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Jade Hudson of Grand Junction; son, Robert Bryant of Gurnee, Illinois; three brothers, Howard, Robert, and Wilbert, all of Evanston, Illinois; and sister, Roberta Simpson of Evanston.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 27 at Grand Vista Hotel 2790 Crossroads Blvd., come anytime between 2 - 5:00 p.m.
