Thomas Laverne Weber, “Tom,” age 71, was born on June 19, 1944 to Owen and Madeline Weber in Grand Junction, Colorado. Tom passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2016, after several years of continued health problems. As a disclaimer, that in no way does this obituary prove his mortality, since he will live forever in the stories and legacies he created. It’s an arduous task trying to summarize his life in the mere constraints of an obituary. The strength that you see in this family was a seed that was planted by our father, cultivated by our mother and grown in good soil. Tom attended high school in Craig, Colorado until the 10th grade. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1962 and proudly served during the Vietnam War, until 1966, when he was honorably discharged. After the Navy, he returned to Craig, Colorado for a short time, and then followed his sister Mary to Holdrege, Nebraska. This is where he met his wife Nancy (Johnson) Weber. They married in 1968 and celebrated 47 years of marriage this past September. In 1968 Tom began a long career in the trucking industry. He worked as a cement truck driver for Kingsley’s Lumber and Riteway Transport in Holdrege, Western Slope Concrete in Steamboat Springs. He purchased his own truck in 1975 and drove over the road for many years. Tom and Nancy moved the family from Wilcox, Nebraska to Grand Junction in July 1989 and he went to work for Palisade Construction. In 1993, he and Nancy started A-1 Truck Repair in Grand Junction. They successfully owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2007. He was surrounded by those he loved most in the world: His wife, Nancy, sons Tim Weber (Misty) of Lexington, Nebraska, Roger Weber (Tina) and Cory Weber (Kimberly) of Grand Junction; daughter Jordan “Becca” Weber of Grand Junction; his beloved grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Chaffin, Jonathan Weber, Natasha Chaffin, Amber Weber, Tyrus Weber and David “Tripp” Conner. He was also very excited about the arrival of his first great-grandchild in May. Additionally, he survived by his older brother Dan Weber and younger sisters Judy Meyring and Sally Weber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his infant son Tommy and daughter Christina Conner (Weber); parents Owen and Madeline Weber and brothers Pat and Mike Weber and sister Mary Wiese (Weber).
