Adolph Klapal

December 12, 1926 — February 16, 2022

Adolph Frank Klapal, age 95, quietly passed in his sleep, February 16, 2022. Frank was born in Sargent Nebraska to John and Lydia Klapal. He was the fourth child out of six and was the last to pass away. Frank graduated high school in 1944 and then immediately enlisted into the Navy in June of that year. He proudly served as a Yoeman 1st class on the USS Hamblen until September 1946. He moved to Lincoln Nebraska and worked at Elgin Watch company where he met his wife Shirley and where then married May 7, 1955. Over several years, they opened 4 service stations in Lincoln before moving to Colorado where he opened 2 auto parts stores and took great pride in the customer service they provided. From there they retired and moved to Arizona where he learned to swim and make golf clubs. He fell in love with the game of golf and got two holes- in-one in the same round where his name appeared in Golf World magazine. They then moved to Grand Junction to be near their daughter Jacque. He made many golf clubs for people and became 1 of only 4 Class A club makers in Colorado.

Frank had a soft spoken voice and enjoyed talking to anyone. He loved to talk about his time served in the military, golf, coin collecting, pets and volunteering his time. Since 1950 he was a Free Mason, member of The Scottish Rite and Shriners clubs. Most of all he loved his country and proudly flew the flag every day.

Frank is survived by his wife Shirley, their daughter Jacque Gaskill (William) 2 grand children Jason(Rebekah)and Jamie(Brad) and five great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Linkin, Shay, Skylar and Mikah.

Memorial services will be held at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Grand Junction, April 25 at 1 PM. Burial to follow. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Royce Hurst Humane Society or Grand River Humane Society
