Alan James Seacat, age 40, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in a single-vehicle car accident in Vernal, Utah.
Alan was born on December 6, 1983, in Dodge City, Kansas. He was the son of Penny Ann Johnson, Prague, Nebraska, and of the late Michael Evan Seacat.
AJ and little sister are two nicknames that come to mind when thinking of Alan, but the biggest one is Max. Originally a rig nickname, but soon turned into who he was. His biological family knew him as Alan (AJ), but his chosen family knew him as Max. Something that became so beloved by his loved ones, it now follows him in death.
Alan enjoyed camping and building fires to warm you for miles. He enjoyed flying down a dirt road in his side-by-side, but also loved climbing rocks in his rock buggy any chance he could. Alan also enjoyed listening to old time country music, while having a cold beer in his backyard. Time in the backyard would also include making a feast of different smoked meats, several sides, and a fridge full of beer for anyone and everyone. Dinners at Alan's meant you ran on Seacat time, and it was known that dinner would be served sometime between when you arrived and when you left. Time spent waiting would be enjoyed playing cornhole in the backyard and sipping on a cold one.
Throughout his life, Alan touched the hearts of many, as he was one of the most giving human beings known. When someone was in a pinch, the person to call was Alan. He would give the shirt off his back, and all he would ask for in return was a case of beer. Alan was also dedicated, as shown in his employment, as a directional driller in the oil and gas industry for 22 years. Alan exemplified compassion and integrity in all he did.
Alan cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, sibling, and so much more, as his family didn't just end in blood. His presence brought joy and warmth to every gathering, and his advice, which he would call wisdom, others would call BS, was always something you looked forward to hearing.
Alan is preceded in death by his father, Micheal Evan Seacat; Grandmother, Carol Jean Seacat, and Grandfather, John Porter Seacat.
Alan is survived by his wife, Lisa Sloan; daughter, Shaelyn Grant; grandmother, Kay Helm; mother, Penny (Chris) Johnson; brothers Phillip (Kieristan) and Levi Seacat and Bryce Smyth; sisters, Abigail and Lexi Seacat, Hannah Johnson and Kelsey Maris.
