Albert Colunga passed away April 1, 2025, at the age of 97. He was born on September 6, 1927, one of 10 children, to Eleno and Antonia Colunga in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he spent most of his life.
Albert was proud to have honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He retired from Holsum Bakery after a 40-year career. Albert enjoyed doing lawn mowing and maintenance for his 7th Street and Chipeta neighbors in the '60's and '70's where he lived with his wife Tommie (Colunga) Russell.
Albert was an avid bowler, having participated in several leagues throughout his life, and he loved the friendly competition with his family, usually coming out on top! He liked riding his bike, watching WWE wrestling, eating menudo and traveling. He lived in Arizona, Nevada, California and Georgia, but always called Grand Junction home.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings, wife Alice (Gonzales) Colunga, wife Enda (Hoback) Colunga and grandson Mario Stock.
Albert is survived by his children Steve Colunga, Donna (Ray) Vialpando, Ted (Kim) Colunga, Pat (Clarie) Colunga, Angie (Darel) Patterson, Miles Colunga, Una (Tim) Stock, Sidney Colunga; stepchildren Robert, Steven, Danny, Rusty, Kris Hoback and Judy Schave; special friend Keavin Garland; 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Albert was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
Services will be held May 5, 2025,1:00 p.m., Brown's Cremation and Funeral, 904 N. 7th St., Grand Junction, CO, and Military Honors will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Veterans Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO.
