Albert (Al) L. Reed passed on May 17th 2024. He was born to James and Mary Reed in 1935. Al was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean war. He was married to Marylou in 1955 and they spent their lives together in Fort Collins, Colorado. Al was a lifelong mechanic, working first for Markley Motors and then for Poudre R1 School District bus maintenance. After his retirement, Al and Marylou moved to Fruita, Colorado where they became involved in the Senior Advisory Task Force and the Fruita Park and Recreation Commission. He and his wife became part of the can recycling collection team raising money for the Fruita Community Center. He was a dedicated family man who will be remembered for his strength, love, and his care for others. Al was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 52 years, and seven out of his eight siblings. He is survived by his brother Richard Reed of Alaska, daughter Marlys (Keith) Harman of Fruita, son Michael (Jeni) Reed of Albuquerque, foster son Jude (Debbie) Randazzo of Denver, grandchildren Autum (Taylor) Harman of Fruita, Stephanie (Ryan) Lacount of Fruita, Mathew Reed of Albuquerque, Matt Randazzo of Denver, Andrea (Chris) Lierer of Denver, Jessica (Tom) Reichert of Denver, and his great-grandchildren: Makayla, Colin, Athena, Nephera, Ellora, Augustina, Gabriella, Vivienne, Ryan, and Dax.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest of Grand Junction (hopewestco.org/donate/).
Services with military honors will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO at 1:00 p.m. on May 28th, 2024.
