Allen Dale Lundy also known as Grandpa Alligator age 73 passed away November 7th, 2024. Born June 7th, 1951 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado and brought to his families home at the Picture Ranch in Clifton. He was the son of Raymond “Dale" Lundy and Evelyn “Joni” Stewart. Al graduated and attended Grand Junction High School and Mesa State College earning a degree in Forestry. He was a proud employee for the City of Grand Junction for 42 years, known as “The Tree Guy”. In those 42 years he planted hundreds of trees that you still see today in the Grand Valley at the public parks and all around town. He was honored to run many events with the City including Arbor Day, putting up Christmas lights downtown on Main St. and caring for the well being of the trees. He also enjoyed part time work doing security at Mesa Mall, Country Jam and several other City events.
Al’s greatest accomplishments were his three kids and being a Grandpa. Al loved traveling the world with his sister Peg Johnson, his family and going to Mexico with just him and his backpack for weeks at a time. In his younger years Al enjoyed visiting his brother Jack Lundy in California working as a lifeguard where he found his love for the ocean. Al loved coaching sports, he was not only a coach to his kids but to everyone he met on and off the field. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors and honored the history the Grand Valley.
Al’s positive attitude and outlook on life touched everyone, he use to say “every day is a good day”. Al is survived by his three children Eric (Katie) Lundy, Jamie (Jami) Lundy and Amber (Jonathan) Rose along with his two Grandchildren William Rose and Emmett Lundy and the mother of his children Karen Lundy.
There will be a celebration of life on December 15th 2024 at Lincoln Park Barn from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Everyone is welcome.
