In Loving Memory of Amanda Jane White (AKA Mandy/Manda/Neemaw)
Amanda Jane White passed away on Saturday, September 16th 2023 at the age of 61. She left this world peacefully and without fear. She fought bravely against breast cancer; inspiring us with her strength and unwavering spirit until the very end.
Manda was born on November 21st, 1961 in Pontefract, England to the late James Godley and Muriel Tordoff.
After attending Harrogate Ladies' College, Manda earned her nursing degree from the Sheffield School of Nursing in England. She moved to America and carried out her work as a Registered Nurse throughout several states. Her primary commitment was her work in the hospice field over fourteen years, where she positively impacted countless lives by providing comfort, compassion, and solace to patients and their families. Her dedication to easing the suffering of others was boundless.
Manda enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. Her favorite activities included traveling, spelunking, hiking, fishing, gardening, golfing, skiing, reading, cribbage, going to the theater, and sharing time with loved ones. Manda’s personality was a shining example of compassion, dedication, and resilience. Her quick wit, beautiful smile, contagious laughter, and amusing anecdotes could brighten even the darkest of days.
As a mother, Manda poured her heart and soul into nurturing her daughter, Jenn Yoder, and her son, Kyle Yoder. She loved them unconditionally, and taught them to do the same. They are eternally grateful for her unmatched tear-evaporating hugs, her words of wisdom, and her encouragement in their dreams and aspirations.
As a grandmother, she inspired happiness in the life of her grandson Benjamin Hall, who calls her “Neemaw”. Her playful spirit laid the groundwork for tons of enduring memories. With anything from storytelling sessions and river trips to making homemade play-doh, Neemaw ensured that every visit with Ben was filled with fun and adventure.
Manda was a loving wife to Kevin White, and she stood by him through thick and thin. Their marriage was defined by selfless love, good humor, and lasting devotion. They created a warm and nurturing home together.
Aside from her beloved husband, children, and grandchild, Manda is also survived by her siblings, Andrew Godley, Anne Armitage, Marion Godley, and Richard Godley; as well as her niece, Emma Armitage. Manda was preceded in death by her niece, Louise Whitehall.
Manda was a truly remarkable, strong, and good-natured woman. The radiance of her kindness, compassion, and spirited laughter will forever illuminate the paths of our lives. We miss her dearly, and our hearts ache in her absence. Amanda's legacy inspires us to thrive, to ease the suffering of others, and to live each moment to the fullest- just as she did.
