Anita Laverne (Lamb) Ricks, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home on Orchard Mesa in Grand Junction, Colorado on May 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 29, 1938 in Colorado Springs, to Willard and Mabel (Finney) Lamb. Anita moved to Grand Junction with her parents in early 1950’s She was part of the first graduating class at the current Grand Junction High School. Anita's life was deeply enriched by her love for reading. She loved curling up on the couch with a good book. Anita was a hard worker who always helped support her family as her children were growing up. She worked at Ultronix, Prospector Motel and then ultimately went to work for Walmart when they opened in 1989 where she retired in 2006 to spend more time with her family. Anita is survived by her two children, Terry (Theresa) Ricks and Cindy Ricks. She was a proud grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dwayne Ricks, her son Richard Ricks, and her grandson Justin Ricks. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 1st at Eagle Rim Park, to honor Anita's memory and celebrate her remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to HopeWest Hospice in Anita's name. They have been supportive throughout this entire journey. Anita will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love and family will be cherished forever.
