Ann Miller

October 15, 1948 — October 17, 2021

Ann Elaine Miller of Lewis, Colorado, passed away on October 17, 2021, at 6:30 PM at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She is being missed by the many people that she has served over 36 years throughout the Four Corners region and beyond.

Ann was born in Manhattan, Kansas on October 15, 1948. She was raised in Fort Collins, CO, where she earned her Masters degree in Adult Education in 1974.

Ann moved from Fort Collins in 1985 to teach in the Red Mesa School District on the Navajo Reservation. She moved to Montezuma County in 1990 to work with Southwest BOCES in Cortez, directing the districts Adult Education Program. When Southwest BOCES left the area, Ann established the Unlimited Learning, Inc. non-profit organization in 2005, in collaboration with the Housing Authority of Montezuma County. The Unlimited Learning Center (ULC) continues offering services to adults in the region, focusing on college preparation and job training.

Through her years of serving learners through the Unlimited Learning Center, Ann developed many close regional alliances, among them, city and county agencies, K-12 and higher educational institutions, workforce providers, employers, and Native American Reservations in the Four Corners area. Her contribution to the many lives she touched through her dedicated service to all learners will continue to be woven into the fabric of life in the evolving history of the southwest region.

Ann loved people, all animals and plants, history, good humor, and though always fit and trim, she also enjoyed the many dining options that continually expanded in the region to provide variety in color and tastes!

Surviving Ann are her brother, Jim Miller, of Fort Collins, CO, and her sister, Carolyn Miller, of La Junta, CO. Ann was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Victor Miller, and mother, Frances Miller, also of Fort Collins, Colorado.

A memorial service will be held at the Unlimited Learning Center, 640 East Second Street in Cortez, CO, on Sunday, October 31st, at 2 PM. Masks will be required.
