Anthony Pete Sophocles, age 91 died 19 Aug. 2019 following a sudden illness.
Born 13 March 1928 in Summerset/Bowie CO. He was the son of the late John Hagis Sophocles and Vasilike (Bessy) Sophocles-Simadas. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated high school in Ridgeway, Colorado and attended one year at Mesa College. He had been employed as a bus driver for Grey Hound, he even drove school bus in high school. he became a truck driver of which he retired from after many years. He was a member of the Sky Liner Motorcycle Club in Grand Junction, CO in the 50's. He belonged to trucking organizations and involved in truck rodeo's as a participant and official. he enjoyed motorcycling and won many event trophies.
He enjoyed antique cars and trains, he had antique cars and a truck that he entered in parades. He was very generous, friendly, and loving. Pete was preceded in death by his wife Geneva (divorced)
He is survived by his son Tom A. Sophocles and daughter Carla F. Torres, 2 brothers George and Jimmy Sr. Sophocles, 2 sisters Eftehia and Helen Sophocles, 5 grand children and 4 great grand children, also numerous nephews and nieces.
He will be greatly missed by all, may our God keep and comfort him Amen.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service, 904 N. 7th Street, G.J.. Interment and Military Honors will be at the Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00 PM 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Jct.
