Arthedia Emogene Spencer, age 88, died September 20, 2020 following a sudden illness.
Born February 12, 1932 in Aurora, Nebraska by a rare cesarean delivery, she was the only living child of the late Arthur and Carrie Mideke.
Arthedia graduated from Colorado Springs High School. She was employed by Newberry’s dime store in stocking and sales before becoming a homemaker upon her marriage. Artie was a very involved community member, long serving on election boards, literacy groups, school improvement committees, organizer of school carnivals, and as a leader for Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, and 4-h. She was president of the Homemaker’s Club in Yuma Arizona.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, and scrapbooking news articles. She valued hard work and service to others.
Arthedia was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers and her husband of 58 years, Joseph Earley Spencer
Arthedia is survived by her children, James (Sharon) Spencer of Lakewood, California, Pauline Dudley of Grand Junction, Colorado, Helen (David) Senko of Whitewater, Colorado, and Earl(Leigh) Spencer of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service will take place at a later date.
