Arthur Steele Graham, 69 years old

Died Aug 25, 2019, He passed unexpectedly at home.

Born March 25, 1950 in Paonia, Colorado

He was the son of William “Bill” and Peggy L. Graham.

Art graduated from Central High School in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1968. He attended Mesa College from 1968-1970 his mother attended college with him.

Art had a lifelong career as a mechanic. He enjoyed learning about and working on a wide variety of mechanical equipment. He enjoyed working on just about any type of project.

Art loved the sport of baseball from the time he played little league as a child, coaching his two sons through their baseball years, even in his retirement he spent a lot of time at Orchard Mesa

Little League. “He spent many valued years volunteering from coaching to umpiring to even wiring various towers and we can’t forget the opening day feast. He will be missed.” Orchard Mesa Little League Board.

Art loved kids of all ages, they all called him papa.

Art worked at Coors Ceramics where he trained as a 1st responder and EMT. After moving to the country he used this knowledge to start the Landsend first response team and teach EMT classes. Art became a certified firefighter and was instrumental in the creation of the Lands End Fire District.

Art loved fishing and hunting and being in the mountains. In 1987 Art attend a banquet for a new foundation “The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation” he was so inspired with this group he joined as soon as he could. Art continued to work with the Foundation as a life member, a volunteer and the Volunteer chair for Westen Colorado, among many other positions in the RMEF.

Art was preceded in death by his parents.

Art survived by his wife Wanda Graham, sons Steele and Casey Graham, daughter Bobbi Graham. Brother Michael Graham, sisters Patrica Volgosong and Elaine Sonnen. Grandchildren Amber, Ryan, Harmony and Kyle Graham. Great grandson Paxton Graham.

Memorial services will be on September 1, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Graham Ranch Cow Camp on the Uncompagre plateau.
