Arthur Northup

Arthur Eugene Northup, age 63, died November 29th, 2020, following a sudden illness.

He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on December 20, 1956. He was the son of the late Arthur E. Northup Sr. He is survived by his mother Virginia Couch “Mahan” of Clifton, Colorado.

Art attended schools in Walsenburg, Colorado. Art was a woodsman from his teen years on. He was in the woods his entire life as a log cutter, skidder operator and a log hauler for the Montrose Sawmill.

Art was known in his early years as “Gene” but preferred to be called “Art”. His nickname was “Marvin” after his favorite cartoon character “Marvin the Martian” and some only knew him as “Marvin”.

He never met a stranger and would help any that came to his path. He was kind but had strong opinions. He was eager to learn everything he could.

Art is survived by son, Colt Halsey (granddaughter Serena), daughter, Jennifer Ray (Joshua) (Grandsons Kyler and Kaden) sisters, Joyce Colglazier (Tim) of Palisade, Colorado, and Patricia Johnson (Shane) of Weston, Colorado, along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
