After a short but brave journey with cancer and a very long, arduous road with kidney failure, Barbara A. Zuben died peacefully on May 10, 2019 in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 67. She was surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Robert Zuben; her daughters, Dawn Zuben and Barbara Harrison; and her grandsons, Zander Meyer and Timothy Harrison.
Barbara was born on July 30, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts, to father James Quirk and mother Barbara Quirk, who predeceased her. She grew up in a large family with seventeen siblings that was tumultuous and presented her with circumstances that she fought her entire life to overcome successfully.
Barbara married Robert Zuben on August 26, 1972 in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Shortly after their nuptials, they relocated to Somerville, MA, where the couple happily lived and raised their two daughters.
Barbara was a driven, determined individual with a huge love of reading intriguing thriller novels and home baking. Her husband, daughters, and grandsons were her pride and joy, whom she loved dearly and deeply. She considered them her greatest achievement over her professional endeavors. When diagnosed with lung cancer on February 8, 2019, she remained dedicated to her family and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a courageous, iron-willed woman throughout her final months with her loving, dedicated husband by her side.
Barbara requested a private cremation; services have been entrusted to Brown's Cremation and Funeral Services.
"We must know the pain of loss; because if we never knew it, we would have no compassion for others, and we would become monsters of self-regard, creatures of unalloyed self-interest. The terrible pain of loss teaches humility to our prideful kind, has the power to soften uncaring hearts, to make a better person of a good one." --Dean Koontz 'The Darkest Evening of The Year'
