Bea was born in Medellin, Colombia, the daughter of Hernan and Consuelo Osorno. She leaves her siblings, Hernan, Angela and Cristina. Chiqui, as her family affectionally knows her, was a wonderful big sister who always protected her little brother and sisters. They will miss her dearly. She was especially close to her father. When Chiqui was a teenager, the two of them would discuss topics for hours, from politics and psychology to books and food. They shared the same curiosity and love of learning. Her parting has left a big void in her mother Consuelo’s heart.
Bea came to Colorado from Colombia, as part of an exchange student program when she was 16 years old. She fell in love with the Colorado mountains and made her home in the Roaring Fork Valley since then. She loved the outdoors, skiing, hiking and camping. She made many friends in the area who will miss her fiery personality and caring heart. Joe, her friend and companion of many years, whom she loved, will also miss her dearly.
Bea was the proud owner of Sopris Laundry in Carbondale. She used the space at Sopris to inspire children to express their artistic abilities while they visited with their parents to do the laundry. The children’s art is displayed on the walls of the laundromat, featuring their names, ages and pictures. Bea had an eye for photography and her beautiful photographs of the area and of her visits to her family in Florida are displayed on the walls of Sopris Laundry.
Bea will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Celebrations of Bea’s life will take place in Pembroke Pines, Florida on her birthday, January 10, 2020, and in her hometown of Carbondale at a later date.
