Bernice Louise Proctor, age 88, peacefully passed away on January 6, 2024.
Bernice was born on February 12, 1935, to Lucille and Claran Jackson in Simla Colorado. Bernice grew up on the family farm south of Simla. She attended school at Alta Vista and graduated in 1952. Bernice then attended Blairs Business College in Colorado Springs. After graduating she was employed in civil service work as an administrative assistant. She retired from the Colorado Division of Wildlife in 1999.
Bernice married Cole Proctor in 1961. They made their home in Eastern Colorado prior to moving to the Western Slope in 1970.
Bernice loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading and visiting local libraries. She also relished the challenges of puzzles and mysteries.
Bernice was proceeded in death by her parents Claran and Lucille Jackson, brothers, Carlton, Roger, Bill, and Johnny. She is survived by husband Cole Proctor, sister Clarene Durham, brother Jimmie Jackson (Jerry), daughters Gayla Tankersley, Shana Podbevsek (Keith), granddaughter Brooke Nelson (Justin), great grandson Dean Nelson, grandsons Keane and Devin Podbevsek.
