Betty Meade

March 15, 1927 — July 27, 2021

Betty Delores Meade, 94, passed away July 27, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a fall at home.

Born March 15, 1927 in Hartshorn Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Maurice C. Haynes and Tiny

Maddux (Haynes) Gregory. She spent her youth in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Colorado with the majority of

her 94 years between Clifton and Palisade Colorado. She graduated from Clifton High School with a full

academic scholarship to Colorado State College of Education (UNC) at Greeley Colorado.

Betty met her husband William Thomas Meade shortly before he shipped out to England to serve in

WWII. They corresponded and were married upon his return in October 1945 and were married for 33

years. She became a mother for the first time in 1948 with her son Herbert C. Meade. And again in

1959 with her daughter Sandra G. Meade. She was a homemaker and mother.

Betty enjoyed flower gardening and taking care of her family. She was supporting the Appleton

Christian Church at the time of her death. Her faith was strong and she shared that with her family.

Betty is survived by her daughter Sandra (Ron) Calkins, brothers Lawrence Gregory of Surprise AZ and

Ben Gregory of Long Beach CA, sister-in-law Linda Ernest of Drumright OK, many nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents and brothers John and Amon Gregory.

A graveside prayer will be held Thursday August 5th at 3 PM at the Palisade Cemetery. Memorial

Contributions in Betty’s name may be made to Roice-Hurst Humane Society in Grand Junction CO or to

the Appleton Christian Church Grand Junction CO.

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like

eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
