Beverly Short Shirk, age 73, of Grand Junction, CO passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at her residence.
Born April 10 1941 in Grand Junction, she was the daughter of the late Clair and Dorothy Short. She was a graduate of Grand Junction schools.
Beverly was a multi talented woman with many interests. Having had horses most of her life, she was an accomplished rider. She competed in many rodeo events including, trick riding, barrel racing and pole bending. Once she held the title of Rodeo Queen.
Most recently, Beverly was a driver for Mercy Medical Transport. She was a generous person who also gave freely of her time and talent. Beverly was a volunteer worker at the Air Shows, JUCO and the Patners Program of Mesa County. One opportunity that brought her great satisfaction was serving as a Victim’s Advocate through the Mesa Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Vic Hanes.
She will be deeply missed by Randy Spear, many cousins and a host of friends and associates.
