Boyd William Cone returned home to his Heavenly Father unexpectedly on August 27, 2023, at the age of 68. We are sure he was greeted by his mother, father, and numerous family members for whom he has done temple work and genealogy.
Boyd was born August 13, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ruby Bernice Bagley Cone and William Levi Cone, Jr. He was the fourth of six children.
Boyd married Lavonne Marie Robbins in the Salt Lake Temple in 1979. They lived in Vernal, Utah for 18 years then in Grand Junction, Colorado, since 1999.
Boyd loved his Savior Jesus Christ and was not shy in sharing his beliefs of the Gospel and the Plan of Salvation with anyone he met. He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Japan Tokyo mission. He had a huge heart and was always helping others throughout his life whether it was laying flooring and making friends with the many clients he had; serving in many church callings; and doing genealogy for ancestors.
His love was his family and he left them with blessings and loving memories hunting fossils and gems; family history trips to the East Coast, England and Ireland, and elsewhere to search libraries and cemeteries for ancestors; fishing and camping with his children and brothers; and so many other unplanned adventures. He passed on this love of adventures to his family.
He is survived by his wife Marie Robbins Cone, children Jennifer (Riyo) Thomas of Ogden, Utah; Shelly (Ben) Haynes of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; and Jacob (Priscilla) Cone of Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as five adored grandchildren: Alexander Haynes, Isabel Haynes, Madelyn Haynes, Abigail Cone and Isaac Cone. He is also survived by siblings Jerry (Debbie) Cone of Herriman, Utah; Charlene (Salvador) Ventura of Chico, California; Patricia (Blair) Gardner of Centerville, Utah; Sherrie Cone of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Clark (Julie) Cone of South Jordan, Utah.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3076 E ½ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado. Family condolences will be prior to the funeral from 10:00 – 10:30am at the church. Interment will be at the cemetery in Fairview, Wyoming on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 1:00pm.
