Carl David Church, age 52, of Grand Junction, CO, died Sunday, June 5, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Mitzy Hubbard Church, a son, Lance Hubbard of Grand Junction, a daughter, Carenda Petersen of Boise, ID, his mother Lillie Kanzelmeyer of Winnemucca, Nevada, and a brother, Clinton Church of Pennsylvania.
As a young boy he grew up in Nucla Colorado and he often spoke of a certain memory that was very dear to him: when his dad would come home from working at the mine and they would sit on the tailgate and listen to the radio as the sun went down!
Carl was a very talented welder and fabricator for over 30 years and he had many life accomplishments. Carl mastered the art of welding, and he taught welding classes in NV. He also was one of the Fabricators/Welders that built the submarine that was featured in the movie "The Hunt For Red October". He was a very hard working man that always provided well for his family! Carl was a car enthusiast, enjoyed restoring classic cars, enjoyed hiking, fishing, arrowhead hunting and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction. Look for the signs to the location.
