Carl Eagleton

May 29, 1940 — January 18, 2021

Carl "Jack" Eagleton passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 18, 2021.   Jack was proud to have made the big 8-0

He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Maggie and his two old "kids" Carla and Andrew; a loving sister Linda; brother John and sister-in law Bobbi; many neices, nephews and cousins, and his best friend in the world and forever riding buddy Larry.

Jack had a great, fun and colorful life.  He was born in Long Beach, CA, went to Long Beach State and lived and worked in Puerto Rico and Mexico City, eventually movng to Telluride to open and run Maggie's Bakery.

He was always, always up for an adventure, and told the best stories about his travels.  He always made people laugh and smile, and absolutely had the best blues and jazz record collection of anyone around.

Jack was co-owner of Maggie's Bakery in Telluride later in life, where he found great happiness meeting all the people and making great friends.

Jack loved, loved, loved Telluride.  He was happy there every day he woke up and always talked about how beautiful it was every day.

Anyone who knew Jack, knew his favorite thing to do was ride his motorcycles.  Any excuse to get out on the open road, even a particular rock in the middle of a desert he's heard about, or a bat cave, or Marfa because his daughter assured him it was "the next big place".  He put about 120,000 miles on that last Valkyrie Motorcycle.

He was the greatest Dad with a fair and thoughtful moral compass, always there to answer any query.

He was a thoughtful and loving husband for 58 years.  He read a couple of books a week and was an honored ELK.  He cared deeply about racial equality and helping people.

We are all going to miss him all the time, but know he is flying with the angels and riding his Valkyrie with wings.

We will celebrate his life when the pandemic subsides.  In the meantime, give an extra smile or make someone chuckle, lend a helping hand or choose the high road unselfishly and think of Jack.
