Carolyn Brunkhardt

Carolyn Denise Brunkhardt was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 27, 1971.
She came from a large family with many siblings, but due to many difficulties in her
biological family, it became impossible to properly care for all of them. Carolyn and
her sister Rhonda were separated and placed into foster care together They lived in
many foster homes, children’s homes and group homes over the years. They were
eventually placed with a foster family who became their forever family. Her parents,
Bill and Kathy Brunkhardt, adopted them in 1988.

Carolyn attended school in Lake Charles, Louisiana and graduated from LaGrange
High School at the age of 22. She learned many life skills in her special needs classes
and eventually was able to work at the CARC workshop with her peers for several
years.

In 1994 she moved with her Mom and Dad to Julesburg, Colorado, where she worked
at the workshop there. Eventually she moved to Sterling , Colorado and then to Grand
Junction, Colorado, where she lived until her death on November 13, 2022, at the age
of 51 years.

Carolyn was a very sweet, happy, funny, beautiful and sometimes stubborn young lady
and oh so spunky! She won the hearts of all those who knew her and worked with her.
She was loved by so many family members, staff and many friends over the years.
Carolyn was also a courageous cancer survivor.

She is survived by her friend and guardian Laura Litshein, her parents, William (Bill)
and Kathy Brunkhardt of Bella Vista, Arkansas. One brother Bill Brunkhardt (Kim) of
Bella Vista, Arkansas, two sisters, Amy Nugent (Scot) of Lake Charles, Louisiana and
Rhonda Miller of Ephrata, Washington. Four nephews, Ty (Rachael) David, Kendall
(Delaney) and Dalton and three nieces, Tess (Wesley), Katy (Chris) and Savannah, one
great niece Joanie and one great nephew Liam.

Memorial services will be held in Arkansas at a future date.
