Cedar Charles Wesson-Lyon
January 9, 1995 - May 15, 2019
Cedar was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on January 9, 1995 to Renee Lynette Wesson and Lenny Wayne Lyon.
Cedar grew up in the Grand Valley playing baseball, soccer, and football throughout grade and middle school, and attended Central High School.
In 2013 he packed a U-Haul and moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho with his mom, two cats, Gruff and Molly, and his dog Poncho. He moved back to Grand Junction briefly before enrolling in Job Corps in Anaconda, Montana, for heavy equipment operation. Anaconda was only about 4 hours away from Spirit Lake, allowing him to come home on breaks and vacations. Cedar was awarded 19 different certificates of honor while there, graduating in 2016 before moving back to Grand Junction.
Cedar was a dedicated Denver Bronco fan his entire life, following their every play and decision. He shared this passion with both of his grandmothers, creating many specials memories cheering for their beloved team on together.
Cedar loved being out in nature and was an excellent fisherman, always catching the biggest and most fish among family and friends.
His constant companions were his Manx cat, Molly, and his dog, Poncho. Molly loved Cedar to the moon and back, constantly licking his face all over (like a bad mannered dog!). Poncho was attached to Cedar’s heels 99% of the time, always ready for a bike ride, walk, or to play ball. Poncho would sit at the top of the driveway hoping to spot Cedar riding towards home, and can still on occasion be found out there watching. Cedar loved his lifelong friends as much as they loved him, they were his treasured family.
Cedar is survived by his loving companions; Molly and Poncho; his mother, Renee Wesson; grandmother, Shirley Wesson; father, Lenny Lyon; sister, Shannon Lyon; grandmother, Patricia Lyon; grandfather, Larry Lyon, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and close friends Bransen Clark, Dakota Dolly, RJ -Russell Roy, and Cameron MacGregor. Cedar is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Wesson.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at 10:00am, at the Jubilee Family Church of God,
483 30 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
Cedar was a gentle, kindhearted person and everyone fortunate enough to have known him, LOVED him! Our only solace is that Cedar is now among the angels.
