Charles Horta

Charles Joseph Horta, 53 years of age, was called home to our lord on July 18, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Charles was born February 15, 1969 in Los Angeles, California to Joseph Charles Horta who preceded him in death and Edna Loya. He was the first grandson to Charles and Sally Horta and Manuel and Angela Loya who all preceded him in death.

He graduated from Northview High School in 1987. In high school he played both baseball and football all four years receiving his varsity letter in both sports.  After high school Charles joined the Navy, where he met his first wife.  Though the marriage ended in divorce they did have one daughter, Angela Nicole Horta.   Charles served in the Navy for four years.  He then attended college at Cal State University, Fresno earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  After college Charles then spent his career as a Logistics Manager.

Charles loved all sports.  He learned to read by the age of 5 years so that he could read the sports page.  His favorite holiday was Christmas because the following day was opening day at Santa Anita.

He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and a generous human being.

He is survived by his wife Deanna Horta, his sons Charles Xavier Horta and Christian Alexander Horta, his daughter Angela Nicole Horta and his grandson Ayden Atlas Nunez. He is preceded in death by his son Xavier Charles Horta.

Charles is also survived by his mother Edna Loya Garcia, sisters Stephenie Horta Doub, Nadien Garcia, Vivian Gomez and Olivia Horta, his brothers Ruben Garcia, Jr. and Joseph Horta, his nieces Maya Gomez and Aaryanna Doub, nephew Adrien Doub, aunts Maria Elena Titus, Joanie Loya, Norma Loya Marin, Julie Massey and Rachel Horta and uncle Manuel Loya along with many cousins, friends and extended family.

Charles was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, Godfather, cousin, friend, Naval Veteran and college graduate.

Burial services for Charles will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm on September 19, 2022 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

A Celebration of Life will he held on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 3 o’clock pm at Foothill Terrace Mobile Home Park at 4095 Fruit Street, La Verne, CA.
