Charles Thomas Overstreet

Charles Thomas Overstreet of Hotchkiss died Jan. 14, 2019 at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 86.

Charlie was born 11-25-1932 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Harold & Edith Overstreet. His family eventually resettled in Southeast, Kansas. He Graduated from Girard High School in 1951. After a brief stint in College and in the Airforce he became a Draftman for Boeing.

He married Rosalie Link in Witchita, Kansas in 1954. They celebrated their first son Dr. Charles Thomas Overstreet Jr. in 1955 and their 2 nd son Jay Lee Overstreet in 1956.  They moved to Arlington, Texas in 1957 for Charles to pursue an Engineering job with Chance Vought Corp, later to be known as LTV Inc. He spent the majority of his 35 yr. career helping design both military and commercial aircraft. Eventually the family would add a 3 rd son Jeffery Howard Overstreet in 1960 and a 4 th son Gregory Harold Overstreet in 1967. Towards the end of his Career he was sent to work on the B2 Stealth Bomber in Palmdale, California and the 777 in Seattle, Washington.  After a 35 yr Career he finally retired in 1992.

Over the years Charles & Rosy loved traveling to Colorado. The Family spent many summer vacations camping in the Mountains to escape the blazing August heat of Texas. In the late 80's Charlie & Rosy happened upon a property for sale called the Sage Dome Art Gallery in Hotchkiss, Co. The property was 9 acres with a main 4 Dome Gallery/Art School and a separate Dome used as a living quarters. The main Gallery was made up of 4 interconnected Geodesic Domes. The place was empty for 3 yrs and was in bad disrepair. But it had a lot of potential and was the right price to get an old Engineer's creative juices flowing.  That one Realistate transaction would alter the course of their lives over the next 30 yrs. They spent much of their retirement designing, remodeling and turning that old Art Gallery into an amazing home. They fullfilled their dream of retiring to the Colorado Mountains and it has given our family years of enjoyment.

Charlie is survied by his wife Rosalie Overstreet of Hotchkiss. His son  Dr. Charles Overstreet Jr of Kennedale, Tx. His son Jay Overstreet of Lake Dallas, Tx. His son Jeff Overstreet of Howe, Tx.   And his Son Greg Overstreet of Little Elm, Tx.  He was preceded in death by his brother Bob Overstreet of  Ozawkie, Ks and Sam Overstreet of Arvada, Co
