Cheryl Christine Whitehurst

Cheryl died July7, 2023 after a 1 1/2 year struggle with colon cancer. She was born September 30, 1965 in Sioux Falls SD.

She was the daughter of Leslie Dean Karschnik of Grand Junction CO and Cynthia Ann Friedbauer of Sioux Falls SD.

She held an associate's degree from Technical Trades Institute, Medical Assistant. She attended high school at Washington High School in Sioux Falls SD.

She had been employed in the St Mary's Hospital Cancer Clinic and Grand Junction School District at Central High School as a Per a.  She also had her own alterations business, Cheryl's Alterations. 

She was an active volunteer coordinating the Prom Dress Giveaway and at the Eagles Lodge.

She had a huge loving and energetic heart for helping others.

She enjoyed camping and 4 wheeling. And loved spending time with her grandsons when her health would allow it.

She is survived by 2 daughters Sarah Whitehurst, Grand Junction, Shauna Clarke (John), Fruita CO, a brother, Jason Karschnik(Christina) and 3 grandsons Chaden Martinez and Holden and Grayson Clarke of Fruita. Also her parents survive her. And canine children Bluebell and Angel.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Scott Whitehurst and her sister Carol Karschnik.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 15 from 2-4 pm at the Eagles Lodge, Hwy 50 on Orchard Mesa.
