Chester Baker

October 23, 1947 — September 15, 2021

Chester Baker passed away peacefully at home, with his wife and daughter by his side, following a long, hard battle from complications of Agent Orange.

He was born in Bakersfield, California to Robert and Carolyn Baker and attended Foothill High School. Following graduation he served in the Army as a SGT in Vietnam. He was an animal specialist, caring for the injured service animals.

After Vietnam, he returned to Bakersfield and worked as a Sheriff deputy, before working on the railroad alongside his father and brother for several years.

He then followed his parents to Colorado in the 1980's so he could hunt and fish. That was his passion. During this time he felt a greater need to care for people, and became a nurse. He worked many years in the area hospitals, finally retiring from the VA in 2015.

He also had a lifelong love of motorcycles and developed many friendships and took many "road" trips with his buddies. Among them was his best friend, John Warner.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn,

brothers Tom (Susan) Baker, Ralph (Mary) Baker and Ken Baker, along with daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Misener, Stepdaughter Shawn (Brian) Clayton and Stepson Daniel (Nouveau) Batchelor. Grandchildren, Ashley (Toby) Pierce,

Misty McCollum, Mike (Sheri) Pierce, Ashly Baker, Briana Maston, Cody (Taryn) Maston, Brooklyn Batchelor, Serenity & Aidan Batchelor and numerous Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and Aunt & Uncle.

Predeceased are his parents and his sister, Bobbi Maxwell.
