His greatest joy was his family life with his children, Becky, Valorie, Daymon and wife, Joan. He felt doubly blest with his grandson Tye Castle, wife Amber along with two great grandchildren, Arianna and Ashton Castle of Graham, Texas.

Alan loved the game of golf, raising Appaloosa horses and visiting with family and friends.  He was especially proud of the BYU football and basketball teams and always cheered the Broncos on.
