Claude Edward Stewart was born October 28,1952 in Denver, Colorado to Lee and Barbara Stewart. He was raised in Leadville, Colorado until he was drafted into the Marines his senior year of high school. He left for boot camp in 1971 and then went to Vietnam as an air traffic controller. He continued to serve until 1976. He married Karen Brunsky and with that union he had his children. Claude drove a garbage truck in Gypsum until he moved to Arizona. He lived there until he returned to Grand Junction in 2000. He worked at the Grand Vista Hotel until 2003.
He met his wife, Denise, at church in 2003, and they were married July 9, 2005. With that union he gained three bonus daughters. Claude loved the outdoors and always appreciated being out in God's beautiful creation. Claude and Denise bought an RV and had many wonderful adventures with the grandkids. Claude also enjoyed night fishing. Claude loved the Broncos and Rockies. Him and Denise loved being able to attend their games as they could.
Claude worked at Safeway for 11 1/2 years and will be greatly missed by his coworkers. Claude is survived by his mother, Barbara, His wife Denise, son Bob (Melissa), daughters Brittany (Danny), Crystal (Tylor), Kalene (Ty). He has 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee. His daughter, Amy, and his four siblings.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ono at the Grand Junction VA, as well as the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at Hope West for the amazing and compassionate care they provided during this difficult time.
