June 2, 1982 – January 8, 2015 Grand Junction, Colo. native and life-long resident, Clinton Duane DeJarnatt, passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center on Thurs., Jan. 8, 2015. He was 32 years of age, and sadly, took his own life. Clint was born on June 2, 1982, to Gary and Marilyn (Miller) DeJarnatt. He spent his childhood playing soccer, participating in the Buddy Werner ski-racing program at Powderhorn, and was active in Boy Scouts. Clint graduated from R-5 High School in 2001, and attended Mesa State College. Clint enjoyed music in his youth, and played bass guitar in several local bands, including "Rezin8.” He was an avid reader with an amazing vocabulary, whose hobbies involved snowboarding and gaming. He was also a car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring his late father's 1969 Chevy Corvette. Clint held various jobs in construction and food service before becoming a Licensed Psychiatric Technician at the Grand Junction Regional Center. A compassionate caregiver for people with developmental disabilities, Clint was able to engage, connect and motivate even the most challenging residents. He was well respected by his colleagues and beloved by his patients. On Aug. 18, 2013, Clint married Courtney Reynolds, mother of his three darling children. He was a devoted father, loving husband, loyal friend, cherished son and kind brother. Clint will be remembered for his trademark beard, soft-spoken voice, easy-going personality, tender heart, nerdy sense of humor, perseverance, and strong work ethic. Clint was preceded in death by his father, Gary DeJarnatt. He is survived by his wife, Courtney; daughter, Alice (8); sons, Calvin (5) and Oliver (2); grandmother, Eleanor Miller (Janet) of Riverside, Calif.; mother, Marilyn DeJarnatt-Peebles (Randy) of Riverside, Calif./Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Nicole DeJarnatt (Fred) of Denver, Colo., and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. A memorial service will be held Sat., Jan. 17, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Monument Presbyterian Church, 2020 1/2 South Broadway, Grand Junction, CO 81507. Childcare will be provided. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the DeJarnatt children's established 529 college savings plans can be made to account executor, Nicole DeJarnatt (2798 West 22nd Ave. Denver, CO 80211). Donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Clint's honor are also greatly appreciated.
