Cindy was born in Columbia, South Carolina to Jiggs and Mary Parker. She had a brother, Bubba and a sister, Marcia whom she was always very close too. Cindy moved to Florida with her family and she graduated from high school. She went off to college to pursue a degree. While attending college, she worked as a real estate agent. Cindy graduated from college to become a radiology technician. She loved what she did and was very dedicated to the patients she saw. She later focused more on mammography and was always looking to learn more and help others. Cindy ended up moving back to NC where she settled down and made a life for herself. She reconnected with Chip, her high school flame when he came to visit in 2009. They quickly fell back in love and were inseparable. It was as if no time had passed since they were last together. Cindy loved adventure and she and Chip moved to Utah where they found a quaint little cabin in the mountains of Eden Utah. They made this their home and enjoyed all that the quiet mountains had to offer. Chip and Cindy's love story grew when they got married on May 9th, 2015. Cindy has no children of her own, however, when she married Chip, she gained a stepson, and a stepdaughter who thought the world of her.
Cindy enjoyed being outdoors at all times. She loved hiking, biking, traveling, fishing, shooting her rifles, 4-Wheeling, and cooking. Cindy was an avid animal lover, she always had cats and dogs. She cared for all creatures, big and small.
Unfortunately, Cindy was diagnosed with ALS in 2015. She chose to keep living her life to the fullest and wanted to experience new adventures. She retired from her job as a mammography technician at the local Hospital in Ogden, Utah and she and Chip bought an RV. With her husband by her side, they traveled from Utah to the east coast, stopping in each state and making memories. Their road trip totaled 12,000 miles! Cindy was able to see all of her loved ones who lived on the east coast. She was especially excited to see her Nephews and her Great Nieces who she has always been very close too. They were the apples of her eye.
Cindy and Chip made their way back to Grand Junction in 2017. Cindy and Chip bought a house and settled down to be close to her stepdaughter, son in law, and her grandbabies, who simply adored her. Cindy was able to spend some quality time with her granddaughters before her disease progressed.
Cindy was the most caring and giving woman this earth has ever known. She was selfless and always helping others, putting herself last; even in her last remaining years. Cindy never complained about her illness. She was never angry or sorrowful. She was a very faithful woman and she leaned heavily on God to get her through. She never lost her faith. Cindy's sense of humor and contagious laugh will be greatly missed. This world is a better place because she was a part of it. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her sister.
She leaves behind her doting husband, Chip Sands, Stepson Ted Sands, Step Daughter Jessica (Kyle) Bishop, Granddaughters Kaylee and Kinsley, Nephew Corey (Julie) Gaston, Nephew, Brian (Karen) Hall, and great-nieces Allison and Libby.
In honor of Cindy, take time to smell the roses, and enjoy life to the fullest, find something good in each day.
