Dale Reece

Dale w. Reece our Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Great-Great Grandpa and Husband was given the gift of life for 87 years and now it’s time to give it back to God. He was born April 28, 1931 in Denver CO to Ralph & Lelia Reece. Dale loved many things more than life itself – starting with his first love, our mom Berkley who passed away in October 1991, and Jan his second love, our stepmom. His children: Dale R. (Paula), Roy (Chris), Kathy Hakes (John), Kenny (Cheryl), Mary Zurek and John (Andrea), and 26 grandchildren. Dale spent more than 40 years with the Rio Grande Western Railroad as an Electrical Engineer and held the title of Assistant Superintendent of Communications upon retiring. Talking about history, trains and airplanes was one of his most favorite past times plus enjoying a “Henry” while watching football with the boys and spending time at Lake Powell. Dad and Jan enjoyed their evenings visiting with friends, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. They especially enjoyed watching the evening sunsets. Dale would like to let everyone know his work is done. He received his call home the morning of October 21st, 2018. An offer he couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. He will be having a loving reunion with our mom Berkley, our sister Mary and many dear friends and relatives. Dad, we were blessed to have you in our lives for so many years and learned many valuable lessons. There will be many things in our lives that we will no longer be able to share with you. The biggest lesson we learned was to enjoy life NOW! Dad left directions for his wife Jan and his children to celebrate his life and to love each other. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Browns Funeral Home, 904 N. 7th Street, with a reception at Horizon Towers, 1111 Horizon Drive in the community room from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
